Goodwhile — step away for a good while

Terms of Use

Last updated: August 3, 2026

These terms apply to the Goodwhile iOS app. By using Goodwhile you agree to them. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.

What Goodwhile does

Goodwhile lets you make a promise to step away from apps and websites you choose, for a duration you choose, using Apple's Screen Time technology to shield them for that period. It is a self-management tool: you decide what to shield, for how long, and how strict to be.

What Goodwhile doesn't promise

Strictness tiers

You choose a strictness when making each promise. Flexible promises can be released at any time. Steady promises can be released after a 24-hour cooling-off period, with a 24-hour window to confirm. Ironclad promises cannot be released in the app before their end date — by design. Please choose ironclad thoughtfully; we cannot end an ironclad promise early for you.

Subscriptions and purchases

Acceptable use

Goodwhile is for managing your own device. Don't use it to manage another adult's device, and don't use it in ways that violate law or Apple's terms.

Liability

Goodwhile is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including the effects of apps being shielded or unshielded at any particular time. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the past twelve months.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date above reflects the latest version. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
